Subject: tell me what you think |
Bible Note: Hi Doc, 1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world. 2 By this know the Spirit of God: every spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God. 3 And every spirit which does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not from God; and this is the antichrist which you heard is coming, and now is already in the world. (Quoted for referrence) I guess I am not familiar enough with the Koran to know if it denies that Jesus came in flesh. I do know that it denies that Jesus is the Only Begotten Son of God. As far as the "work, characture, and authority" of Jesus Christ, I don't see those things spoken of in this passage. Do you? This seems to me to be just speaking of the Incarnation of Christ. This is against the gnostic teaching that matter is evil, therefore God could neither create nor inhabit matter. Certainly, the spirit that denies that Jesus was incarnate is anti-Christ, in the "against Christ" sense of the word. Whether that spirit is "instead of Christ,", in that sense of "anti-Christ", I would have to answer based on specifics. 1 John 2:22 Who is the liar, except the one denying, saying that Jesus is not the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one denying the Father and the Son. This verse tells us that the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ is the antichrist. So antichrist denies the annointing, or the mission, of Jesus. Do you agree? Love in Christ, Mark |
