Bible Question:
In the passages Romans 1:16-3:26; 5:1-11; Hebrews 2:10-18, how do they relate to being created in the image of God? How does this effect being in right relationship with God, one another, and creation? |
Bible Answer: Starting with Romans 3 - St. Paul quotes from Psalm 51. So, let us go to Psalm 51. The is the Psalm written by David, the man after God's own heart, after Nathan rebuked Him for the adultery with Bathsheba. Was not David created in God's image, just as you and I? And were it not the case that all of us created in the image of God had sinned, would Christ's atoning sacrifice have been necessary, and therefore an historical fact? Is it not the case that God watched His only begotten Son die on a Cross, because He loves us. And the Son went to the Cross because He (the Son) loves us. And that He sends us the Comforter (the Holy Spirit) having ascended to His Father, because He loves us. Did He not create us in His own image as an act of Divine Love beyond our comprehension? Is not the cross beyond our comprehension? Forget about being in right relationship with creation. By Genesis 1:26 we are created in God's image and we have dominion over God's creation (to subdue, not to pollute). How to be in right relationship with God? How did Satan fall out of right relationship with God? By thinking He could ascend higher than God. Remember, O man, you are but dust, and to dust you will return. Pray to the Father in the name of Jesus, ask Him for His Holy Spirit. Fast and pray. Seek Him in His sacraments. Confess your sins to Him daily - Good confession scriptures are: Start with John 13:1, then go to one or more of the following, as the Lord leads: DEUT 5, John 15: 1-8, John 1:1-13, Exodus 20: 1-17, Isaiah 40:15-17, Leviticus 26: 40-45, Romans 3:8-31, Matthew 26: 20-25, Isaiah 42:25, Isaiah 44:15-20, Leviticus 19:5-8, Luke 23: 40-43, Luke 24:7, Psalm 52:3-4, Psalm 51:3-4. Finally, close your confession with 1 John 1-10. Pray then as the Lord leads. Having fully confessed your sins as you are aware, and prayed/read 1 John 1-10, read the Communion scriptures: starting at Luke 22:7, Matthew 26:26, and 1 Corinthians 11:23. "Unless you eat of my flesh, and drink of my blood, you have no life in you". Having experienced the grace of God by His atoning sacrifice on the Cross, are you now drawing closer to Him? Do you now love Him more? Do you now long to joyfully keep His commandments? Apart from Him, we can do nothing. John 15:1-8 - He is the Vine, we are to abide in Him in love, as He abides in the Father, and the Father is in Him. Ours is a life of Love. Have you forgotten your first Love (Rev 2:4)? If so, I guide you to the Song of Solomon, all of it. Surrender to the power of the Holy Spirit. Remember - of all that the Father has given Jesus, the Good Shepherd, He will lose none. If you are His sheep, you know His voice, let Him lead - just follow. |
