Bible Question: When God revels something to someone, does He reveal it to another person at the same time or at different times? I received a vision of "who" my husband is to be- who is a minister, and the Lord has prepared me for the past year and still counting for this union. We have not started dating yet, and I just keep my focus on God untill His promise has been revealed. |
Bible Answer: Ivory: You have asked, "When God reveals something to someone, does He reveal it to another person at the same time or at different times?" ....... The Bible says, "Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son..." (Hebrews 1:1,2a). ...... Thus I am always on the side of extreme caution when I use the word "reveal," taking care to use it in the context of what God has already revealed through His word and shying away from attributing a hunch or a wish as a personal revelation from God. Scripture simply does not support such an assumption. God does work mightily in the hearts and lives of His people through His word, through the indwelling Holy Spirit, and through the answering of the prayers of the righteous that are prayed in accordance with His will, but Scripture does not support private, individual divine revelation dispensed through such media as visions. This is "rightly dividing the word of truth" but it is intended in no way, nor does it, diminish the awesome efficacy of prayer. James says that the effecutual, fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much. But God's answer to the prayers of His children should not be viewed as if they were special, private revelations. They are not. The Scriptures alone are God's revelation of Himself and of His will and plan for man. --Hank |
