Bible Question: While searching for Biblical tools I came upon this site. It seemed interesting to me, since I have been searching for answers for many years. My excitement was short lived as I browsed through the forums Show Me section. I notice that the exchange was basically the same as in any other forum where people are mostly interested in ideologies, numerology and intellectualism. I could not believe the open hostility and the brazen superiority displayed in some of the exchange. Is this really a Christian Forum, where is the humility, the thirst for truth, the adhearance to Christs Teachings Matthew 5 1 through 6 15, specifically 6 14,15 James 1 19 thru 22 and 3 13 thru 18. |
Bible Answer: Supplement to my previous statement: In an effort to be brief, I need to get to the bottom line. That is, we all need to realize this country, over the last several decades (my generation) has taken several turns for the worst. We've taken prayer out of our schools and ushered in a tremendous amount of violence into our video industry. For a long time, we took out the option for a person committing a capitol crime and receive a form of capitol punishment which is ordained by God. Now, our country is realizing its mistakes and we're starting to re-evaluate those mistakes but it's going to take a long time to reverse this course. Like the saying goes, you can't make a U-Turn with a battleship in just a few minutes or a few yards. Anyway, back to being brief. To sum it up, we all need to realize the tremendous example we've been given and reacquaint ourselves with our Lord and Saviour. Jesus had incredible patience. According to the scriptures, he spent his whole entire life without sin, yet he was angry with one single thing. It wasn't the way he was treated in that sorry excuse of a trial or the undeserved manner of his death. He got angry over the way His Father's house was being abused. We need to pick our battles and prioritize like He did. There are so many things wrong with this world but over all, I have to say this forum is a definite step in the right direction. We all should resolve to live up to the terms and conditions that we all agreed to when we signed up. About being a Bible Bully, we should realize that the Bible does a fine job of defending itself and God, its Author. Our job is to let the image of that same Author shine through us. At the end of every day of our lives, we need to be prepared to ask ourselves, did we bring glory to our God. Did we conduct ourselves in such a way, that we would be arrested for being christians in the 1st century? Think of what those folks went thru and our petty concerns pale in significance. Let's (including me) all resolve to leave the world a better place than we found it and the only way you can make certain of that is to answer those questions above carefully with a clear and forgivin conscience. Well, you've probably figured out by now, it's tough for me to be brief but if you take some advice from this old man and follow the admonitions above, this world will be better place. One last reminder and I'll hush, at least for now: Remember we're on a mission to forgive at least as much as we have received from the King of Kings. If we don't, I don't think we're going to receive a second chance, come judgement day, like that unforgiving fellow in the parable. |
