Bible Question: I don't see any big deal or issue as to whether tithing is O.T. or N.T., under law or grace; I think it is a matter of attitude and the love for God, His church and the Spreading of the Gospel. The question I see that is rather more interesting to discuss about and which I think may help open the understanding of many on tithing issues is God's challenge - PROVE ME: the challenge to tithers |
Bible Answer: arapga I disagree with many of these answers. Jesus does say we should tithe. Matthew 23:23 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. In this passage Jesus clearly say you tithe as you OUGHT to have done. I think the message is very clear we are to honor God with what is precious to us. Tithing was a custom before the law as a way to show honor and according to Jesus it is still for today. And yes God is very faithful to His word and does very much bless those that tithe. EdB |
