Bible Question: In 1971 the NASB was first published. It is a revision of the ASV 1901 using contemporary english. In 1995 the NASB was updated for greater understanding and smoother reading. Some passages were updated using older Greek text that were not available for the ASV. Which Greek texts were used and was this done for the 1971 version or the 1995 version?? Thanks! |
Bible Answer: The foreward in the NASB 1995 update says, "Consideration was given to the latest available manuscripts with a view to determining the best Greek text. In most instances the 26th edition fo Eberhard Nestle's Novum Testamentum Graece was followed." The 1971 NASB says about the same thing but mentions the 23rd edition of the Eberhard Nestle's Novum Testamentum Graece was used. EdB |
