Bible Question: Before Christ, one had to offer a burnt sacrifice to atone for one's sins. In Hebrews, the author also says it was faith. My question is this, (theoritically) say someone who truly had faith in God, and always strived to do His will, and always obeyed the law, was in Rome for some reason. In Jerusalem, Jesus was crucified and killed. If that man in Rome died two days afterward, and never even knew Christ died, would he still get to go to Heaven, even though the law was completed and sacrifices were then void? |
Bible Answer: Hamartolos, The best answer I can give to that question is found in Eph. 2:11-13: " 11 Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called “Uncircumcision” by the so-called “Circumcision,” which is performed in the flesh by human hands— 12 remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ." Salvation has always been by grace through faith! You might read Romans 1 as additional background. I hope this helps, BradK |
