Bible Question: Would the LITV be a true and valuable gift for Christmas? |
Bible Answer: Hi Maroon, I have been using the LITV Jay P. Green translation for a few years now, and I think it is an extremely valuable translation. I wish that every Bible tranlator could make the same statements of faith, belief, and reverance that he makes in the forward to the NT. He does believe that the Received Text is the proper text to translate from, and many people disagree with that view, and fault him for it. As for myself, I think that there is some very strong evidence in favor of that view, however, I know that the Word of God is not just ink on paper, but the Holy Spirit speaking to us. (Psalm 119:89-90) To the comments posted saying those who "Love the LITV seem to Hate the modern translations. . ." I for one regularly use for my personal study the LITV (Green), Youngs Literal Translation, NASB, King James, New King James, Amplified, Berry's Interlinear, and occasionally a couple of other interlinears, and a dozen of so various translations including the Geneve, Darby's, Weymouth, Beck, and others. not nec. in that order :) I think the LITV would make a great gift, and I encourage all of us who give Christmas gifts to seek to spread the gospel through them. God bless you and yours! Love in Christ, Mark |
