Bible Question: Is there a best order in which to read the bible...for someone who has never read it before? Are there certain books one should begin with? Or should we just start at the beginning and keep on going? |
Bible Answer: Hi, cherrylmartel! One particular method which I employ is reading three chapters of the Old Testament (beginning with Genesis, of course), one Psalm (again beginning with #1), and one chapter of the New Testament (beginning with Matthew 1). As you progress in this manner, there are moments when two or three readings will merge, sheding light on a prophecy, a commandment or a historical factor. Purchase or borrow a concordance dictionary to assist you in in-depth study; this will not only allow you to cross-reference a particular passage, but it will also familiarize you with the various books of the Bible. I recommend a version that has modern language in order to facilitate assimilation and retention of the passages. God Bless! Angel |
