Bible Question:
This to me is fundamental: Assumption:God is the creator of all that exists. The "buck stops here", he is all powerful, all knowing, and all present. My question is this: If God knows everything that is going to happen before it happens, then how are things not predestined? If, even in my own mind I am making my own choices (because I cannot see the future), how is that really true? If "God" already knows what choices I'm going to make, how is my life not already predetermined? Before I "accept and beleive" I need to have this and other questions answered to my satisfaction! Before I can study the content I must first accept the concept. |
Bible Answer: Time does not exist with God. Therefore God see's everything, from beginning to end, as one unit. Think of it this way. God see's everything as "history", in the past. Example; Think back to when you crashed on your bicycle. When you look back, do you now know what you did to make you crash? Probably. However, at the time you were on the bike, did you know then you were going to crash? No. OK, then, does knowing TODAY what you did wrong back then mean that you were predestined to crash? No, you still had choices. You simply know now because you can look back at the entire picture with one glace. God see's all of time this way. He knows what's going to happen beause it has already happend in his sight. |
