Bible Question (short): Cultural issues/difficult issues |
Question (full): Can anyone give some insight into why these types of incidents were permitted? I think also of Lot so willing to toss his daughters to the wolves. We are told often that there was respect for women and human rights in the old testament, and yet I do not see it in such scriptures. Which brings me to a second question, if allowed. How are we to differentiate between what we are told were cultural commandments (e.g. women wearing head coverings, not cutting hair, silence in the church, etc. - most of which are not largely practiced anymore - but why not?) versus true commandments of God? Thanks for helping me deal with these difficult issues. Joanne |
