Bible Question:
If it's ok for us to have heart transplants, pacemakers, artificial knees etc. Which I understand are life saving, is God against a woman getting a tummy tuck? I know God says not to tatoo or cut our bodies for the dead, but, if walking around with overhanging extra skin makes us unhappy is it wrong to go have a plastic surgeon repair it? Are we only allowed to have surgery if it's threatening our lives? Everyone has some concerns about their bodies. We have our hair done, we like to be in fashion, we dress nice , lot of people wear contacts instead of glasses, all these things have to do with our outward appearence and it doesn't mean we focus more on ourselves then we do on keeping our eyes on God. Would God love me less because I want to look good, especially for my husband? Because I am not happy with my body I hide myself from my husband and this hinders our relatioship. He has also expressed how nice it would be to change my look. We both feel it would improve our intimate life. I'll be waiting to hear from you. Thank you |
Bible Answer: I don’t know how many feel about this but I can tell you from the way I see it. There is a verse that says that we are ambassadors for Christ. 2 Cor. 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. I think that as ambassadors we should be the best looking, happiest most outgoing, group on the planet. The way we look and act sometimes speaks so loud that people can’t hear what we are trying to tell them. You know the old saying the first impression is the one that counts the most. People have to win the opportunity to talk to someone about Christ. We have to make people want what we have and they are more apt to listen to someone who looks like a winner not a loser. Some think that in order to be spiritual that they must walk around with a hangdog expression of their face and not show any self-respect. They dress sloppy and shuffle there feet to try and look humble and sloppy then they tell people that they are Christians. The most beautiful one in the whole universe is our precious Lord Jesus and he says that we are his ambassadors. Now you make up your own mind. There is a verse that applies to all that we do. Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. I hope this helps, CDBJ |
