Bible Question:
I'm reading Saint john (Prologue) There's a couple of things that I DON'T UNDERSTAND. John was a disciple writing a book on God and Jesus, Who was John the Baptist? Trying to find the verses that relates to John the Baptist Chapter 0ne I believe its verse 6.There was a man one sent from God whose name was John and 7. This man came to witness to bear witness concerning the light that all might believe through him 8.He was not the himself the light but was to bear witness to the light. Hope you can help understand or direct me to the right verse about John the Baptist. Thank you so much |
Bible Answer: Sweet: Read the opening few chapters of all the Synoptics (The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke). In them you will learn more of how John the Baptist fitted into God's scheme of things. ... A capsule bio of John the Baptist reads as follows: He was a prophet from a priestly family, preached the message of repentence, announced the coming of the Messiah (Christ), baptized Jesus, was beheaded by Herod Antipas. If you're reading a reference Bible, follow up the O.T. (Old Testament) references that will be provided regarding John the Baptist. May God guide you in your understanding of His holy word. I have read much and widely, but there is no other reading that quite measures up to the reading of the Bible. --Hank |
