Bible Question: how do you overcome fear of failure to get on with the workings of God? and how do you exert your authority in boldness for Christ if you fear failing? How do you stop a wandering mind from wondering whether in prayer or just reading the Word? I know the scripture that God doesn't give us a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind, why am I so fearful, am I not trusting God enough to handle all my situations? |
Bible Answer: My first question to you before I can give a good answer is how long have you been a true born again Christian? I had much the same feelings when I was a new believer and sometimes I think that I must have muddied up a lot of water before it got easy for me. Most of the time we have fear of personal rejection and that is only overcome by years of studying the Bible and learning how to trust in the truth that it contains. Luke 6:22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. You don’t have to have fear of failure because in a way you can never succeed anyway. Take witnessing as an example one will never succeed at witnessing because it is God that has to do the work not us. All we are able to do is plant the seed or maybe water it a little but it is God that has to cause the life. 1 Cor. 3:6-7 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. [7] So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. We can never cause anyone to understand the message of the Gospel, so it doesn’t mater how good or experienced you might be. It’s the Lord that causes understanding. Matthew 16:13-17 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? [14] And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. [15] He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? [16] And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. [17] And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. If God the father doesn’t want to reveal truth to the person you are witnessing to at that time, namely who Jesus is and what he did for them, no mater what you say or how hard you try it won’t make any difference, so you might as well relax and have fun and enjoy watching the Lord work, flesh and blood can’t reveal truth! Relax in the Lord and in the power of His Might. CDBJ |
