Bible Question: I've just started my bible study and I was reading Leviticus chapter 11 where God spoke to Moses and Aaron and gave them a list of foods that were considered clean to eat and unclean; those we should not eat. Should we still eat that way today? If so, what about Mark 7:15 where is states that "There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. Are they speaking of food in Mark 7 or something else? |
Bible Answer: First, let me say that I agree with your interpretation of Mark 7:15. Let me also point you to a couple of other passages. Considering that the Mosaic Law was given to the Jews, this is the instruction for Gentiles: Acts 15:19 "Therefore it is my judgment that we do not trouble those who are turning to God from among the Gentiles, but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood." See 1 Corinthians 8, regarding what has been sacrificed to idols. Also, read Acts 10:10-16. Although that passage seems to use the food to symbolize people, (see Acts 10:28) I think we might still be able to apply it to actual food. I hope this helps. In Him, Benjamite |
