Bible Question:
Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: KJV When I tried to live for Christ saying I'll never do this or that, the temptation to do just those things overwhelmed me. Today, as I've learned to trust Him more and more, the temptations I once saw are no where to be found. I am being protected; of that I am sure. That is why, when I consider Matthew 6:13, I hear the verse saying 'Lead me away from temptation and deliver me from evil.' I've tried to research but it hasn't helped to quiet what I sense in my heart. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Badgerbob I don't think I understand your question. Just what needs to be quieted in your heart? From your first paragraph, it sounds like you understand the battle between the old man and the new inner man (see Rom. 7:4-25). It can sometimes be a battle or just a little skirmish. The good news is that we win in Jesus' victory. When I;m in one of those skirmishes I just think of the old mas as being deposed but not banished so he's just trying to regain his dominion (but he don't stand a chance!) So to reiterate - just what is it in your heart that needs to be quieted? Maybe someone here can help you. blessings cheri |
