Bible Question:
I believe there is a passage somewhere in the bible that, at least in essence, says that "you should not ware your religion on your sleeve". Does anyone know where that passage is or if in fact it is, in essence, in the bible. I assume King James version. Thank you Rick in Cleveland |
Bible Answer: I haven't seen a scripture like that but in essence Matthew 6 from Jesus Sermon on the Mount states that we should do our religion our good works in private before God and not in public boasting of ourselves. We can turn our religion into a religion of me. This is me and forget the real belief in God. Those that talk the talk and not walk the walk are fooling themselves. Showing a form of religion but turning their back on it - 2 Tim 3. James 1:22-27 gives a true meaning to religion in that we should be doers of the word and practice pure religion which is visiting the widows and fatherless and keeping oneself unspotted from the world. |
