Bible Question: I have made a vow to give a certain amount of money to GOD. Can I change where I first intended to give it because I keep having a nagging feeling to do this, to finish giving my vow in a different direction. #2) If I feel the LORD is strongly leading me to do this, and my husband allowed me to make the vow from the beginning, but he doesn't agree with changing where I give my vow, even though I feel I am led by the LORD to do so , should I go ahead and submit to what my husband says ? I want to be obedient to GOD but I also want to be under my husband's direction. I guess what I'm asking is: Do I do what I feel God is saying to me or my husband? Are there any Scriptures pertaining to this? I am really having a struggle with this and I need to find an answer in GOD'S WORD, if possible. |
Bible Answer: Dear GIS, Please excuse the response that you got today. That person was not representative of the kind of people on the forum. I'd be very careful about going with your feelings in direct conflict with what your husband is saying. I believe it was Elizabeth Elliott who pointed out that God is fully capable of changing the heart of your husband in such matters. Indeed, this may well be the real leading from the Lord. Feelings are notoriously undependable. In the mean time, if you search the Scriptures for the characteristics of a Godly wife, you will see how you are to walk. It is also probably wise to avoid vows, unless you are prepared to carry them out no matter what. God bless you as you seek to live a life pleasing to our Lord. In Him, Doc |
