Subject: tongues: are there 2 kinds? |
Bible Note: Dear lovetosign, Greetings in Jesus' name! I read your post with great interest, and agree with a good deal of your synopsis. However, I must say that point 1) shound read "In the Spirit does not *necessarily* mean tongues." (my emphasis) Friend, it CAN mean tongues, regardless. Just because the Scriptures have the phrase "in the Spirit" in other places does not necessarily mean they all share the same meaning. (but I am not Pentecostal :-)) Neither can I share your 'tongues is a "too bad you don't have it" gift' ideology. I do trust God's sovereignty in this matter, and true, because you pray may not necessarily mean you shall receive this gift, but to 'give up' on it, or any other gift is irresponsible. At what point do you decide that you have received 'enough' of God's gifts? You might want to 'put it on the back burner' for a while, but don't stop desiring all the gifts of God!
