Subject: tongues: are there 2 kinds? |
Bible Note: Greetings Retxar, I saw your response and decided to maybe shed some light on the subject. It is good you mentioned Context. Context is King. Let's look at the scriptures (NIV). We have every body groaning and we need to figure this one out! Romans 8:22-27 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. ***Ok, first childbirth pains are referring to the second coming of Christ (see Matthew 24:8, and Mark 13:8) These scriptures explain the groaning being events that happen on earth. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. ***We as Christians await the coming of Christ too. This states why we groan in our inner being: We are waiting for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. Our bodies are not redeemed, our souls are. When Jesus comes back our bodies will be redeemed too. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? ***We are saved in this hope (Faith) we are saved. We are redeemed in the Jesus that we cannot see, but we trust him. 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. ***We do not have it, so we wait patiently 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. ***In the same way we groan for the coming of Jesus, the Spirit of God groans. He intercedes to the Father for us to a deeper level that we cannot understand. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will. ***And all of the interceeding is done according to God's will. This is kinda short, I will go more in depth if you want, but do not link tongues into this passage. Responding in Christian Love. In His Grace, Lewis. |
