Bible Question: The Bible teaches us that when we give our lives to christ that we be come, Priest, Saints, and Kings. So, what is the big deal about Pope John Paul II being made a Saint? Can you give me some verses that talk about Christains being Saints, etc. It will speed up my learning process. |
Bible Answer: Hi, regguh! Christians are already saints... in the sense that they strive to live in perfection (Christ's)... however, today's believers differ from the early Church's believers in that we mostly seek shortcuts and they mostly sought to live in Christ... so it was a simple thing to hear Peter, Paul or John call themselves saints or call the others saints... not because they thought that they were more spiritually advanced than others but because they lived the Word... and when an issue arose, they did not allow error to proliferate into subcultures and schisms... When we gather (2 or 3) Jesus should be among us... but today we find that Christian gather and split... gather and criticize... gather and complaint... gather and embrace secularism... gather and embrace polytheism... gather and distort Scripture... gather and celebrate the alteration of the Word of God... Clearly, we are called to be holy by the Holy One... clearly, we are falling short (as a body) of the Body of Christ! The Catholic Church's view of saints is that those who live the Word and worked for the Kingdom emulating and serving Christ are exemplary members of the Body of Christ and they are rendered as proof that man can obey God and live according to His Will! God Bless! Angel |
