Subject: Adultery Sexual or Covenant Breaking |
Bible Note: My comment to any of that is that there is only one that will twist scripture, that is the father of Lies, and I definately think that what is being said here is a twist of scripture. Firstly. Jesus made it very clear that Fornication, sexual immorality, "porneiva" deals with sex. "unchasity, fornication, (Matthew 19:9) Just as he says...flee fornication, flee sexual immorality..all Porneiva. All other sins he says are committed WITHOUT the body but Fornication, is committed Against ones body, all implying a Physical Sin (1 Corithians 6:18) Jesus makes it very clear in Mathew that this has to do with the "oneness" A man shall leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife and the two shall become "one flesh" just as he says that he who unites his body with a prostitute becomes "one flesh" with her. Again a physical Sin all involving one's body. 1 Corithians 6:16 The temple of the Lord Just as he says the husbands body doesn't belong to him alone but to his wife, nor does the wife's body belong to her alone but to her husband.1 Corithians 7:4 To distort this "oneness" is to distort the corralation between husband and wife in being a reperesentation of Christ and the Church" Ephesians 5:32 Jesus also covered the "nonsexual" approaching the "heart" issues when he said if you look at a woman lustfully. (with covetness)you have committed adultery with her in your heart As far as a breaking of the covenant. The covenant of marriage is not only between a husband and a wife but between each of them and God. Marriage takes three. So it isn't up to just the husband and the wife, there is a third party in that covenant So if God's word does not agree Then neither would he. Look up some of the commentaries. As for Challenging what the church teaches Read 1 Titus 3 concerning heretics, the definition of a heretic is basically someone that makes a choice of an opinion based on their own judgment that is opposed to that of the majority of the churches of Christ, and obstinately persists in it. |
