Bible Question:
Hi, John10:30. "I and the Father are one" so said Jesus. This verse would super- ficially convince one and all that Jesus and the Father are one and the same Person/Spirit/God. But in order to have a better understanding of the message that this verse intend to convey, it is necessary to refer to the context that Jesus was talking about. In the preceding verses,Jesus was narrating about how He and His Father were caring, guarding and protecting the sheep. In this context,Jesus and His Father are one--of one mind sharing the same caring and loving thought. Bible Answer: Excuse me, what about John 20:17? JC recognizes that he is subject to a Deity, the Father... that's a pretty strong seratation of persons... Christ explains being one with and in the Father; John 17 this is explained, further explination of two being one is Mathew 19 in dealing with marriage... Act 7:55-56, Stephan saw Christ standing ont the right hand of God... he saw 2 people... John 17 explains very well how many can be one in purpose but individual I do not attack you, but encourage you to think beyond one verse of scripture, when there are so many more that cannot be neglected... In short, my answer is, John10:30 is not enough evidence to support that specific doctrine |
