Bible Question: Describe Jesus in Matt and John. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Jaanie and welcome to the forum. Each gospel portrays Jesus in a different way. Matthew which was written about 60 AD presents Jesus as the might king and emphasizes the power of Christ. It is a teaching gospel and portays Jesus as a lion (see Eze 1:10). The book ends with His resurrection. Mark is believed to be the first gospel written about 58AD. I presents Jesus as an obedient servant and emphasizes the service of Christ. It is a narrative gospel full of action. It portrays Jesus as a ox and the book ends with the ascension. Luke was written after Matthew and presents Jesus as the ideal Son of Man. It emphasizes the sympathy of Christ and is carefully documented. It portrays Jesus as a man and ends with the coming of the Holy Spirit. John was the last gospel written about 98 AD. It presents Jesus as the divine Son of God and emphasizes the wisdom of Christ. It is the spiritual gospel and portrays Jesus as an eagle. It ends with the return of Jesus to earth. Matthew, Mark and Luke are called the synoptic gospels and take a common view of the life of Christ emphasizing the His humanity. John's gospel emphasizes His diety. Hope this helps. prayon |
