Bible Question: Im having a bit of a prob with 1 cor 14:34, I find it hard to grasp that God does not intend for women to participate in church. I would like more information and insights on this verse please. |
Bible Answer: The problem is not that Paul was against the participation of women in the church. How could we think that way when we read 1 Cor. 11.5 that says that woman has the right to pray being veiled. The point of Paul is that women, in that time, have no opportunity to study and to be educated as men could. Therefore, the word was given to men in the teaching ministry in order to maintain that standard of authority as well as of order. Moreover, when we see the place of Priscila in the book of Acts we see another place where a woman had the right to be very active in the local church. |
