Bible Question:
I understand that. But is the name "el" referenced in the Bible? If it is, where? Example: The Philistines had a god - his name was "Dagon." (1 Samuel Ch. 5, Ver. 2) |
Bible Answer: Dear Jim, There is a convention to only mark a post as a question if it is being asked of the forum participants in general. Mark your post as a note if you are asking an individual a question. The advantage of this is that it leaves the front page free from individual discussion. I know of no such explicit reference in Scripture. Although you can find some commentaries that discuss it. I suspect that that designation has extra-biblical (i.e., outside of the bible) origins. However, the use of "El" to speak of the Lord God does exist in Scripture (Exodus 3:14; Psalm 50:1; etc.). In Him, Doc |
