Bible Question (short): What translation is correct ? |
Question (full): Thanks for responding Crystal, The Bible I have NIV Has this translation 10 "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. and his Jewish Publication Society Tanakh Has this Translation But I will fill the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem with a spirit of pity and compassion; and they shall lament to me about those who are slain, wailing over them as over a favorite son and showing bitter grief as over a first-born. I assumed the verse is stating that Jews will recognize Jesus as the messiah at the second-coming, but his verse ...I don't know what it means. I just wanted to know which translation was correct ? ...and what is lament? Thanks and God bless Dave |
