Subject: Is creamation right? |
Bible Note: cherylmartel: And how good to meet you too, Cheryl. As an old, sometimes grumpy, member of this Forum, I bid you welcome. ..... Regarding human remains, I suppose the method of disposal really is a moot issue. Whether the mortal body is cremated or whether interred to become, as Ben Franklin put it, "food for worms" is significantly less important than where the spirit spends eternity. The Bible says little about physical burial relative to what it says about the eternal destiny of the soul. So it seems wise to emphasize what Scripture emphasizes. If you choose to hang around the Forum very long (and I invite you to), you will see that many questions are asked -- and many answers given! -- about things on which Scripture is largely or altogether silent. Cremation and an exhaustive biography of Cain's wife are notable examples. Even though the Forum is called StudyBibleForum, and both questions and answers are supposed to be biblically based, this isn't always the case unfortunately. As the old saying goes, "Rules are made to be broken." And broken they are here and with a perplexing frequency! Again, welcome, and let us know whether we can help you. --Hank |
