Subject: Disease or Bad Personal Choice?? |
Bible Note: Greetings Angellightboy! I am really sorry to hear about your accident. I pray that God will both bless and bring healing. However (here comes the dreaded other shoe), you are not being judged, hit, or shunned my friend. You are simply being called to account for ignoring what Scripture actually says for what you want it to say. Scripture is God's self revelation. It is both objective and authoritative. If I want to know what God thinks about something, I simply have to go to the Bible to find out. While there may be some specific issues not addressed in Scripture, the issue of sexual sins is very clearly addressed. There are many sexual sins listed in Scripture: Adultery, promiscuity, fornication, polygamy, and homsexuality. I do not believe that homosexuality is a special 'class' of sin. But, Scripture is clear that it is sin nonetheless. I could not in good conscience tell someone who was having an affair that it was 'okay' as long as they 'loved' the other person, any more than I could tell you that homosexuality is okay if you 'love' the other person. Being a Christian means submitting to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. That means that I have to live the way that He says, not the way I want to live. I am very familiar with the different approaches that people have taken to try and explain away what Scripture says, but it doesn't work. Lev. 18 is very clear concerning sexual sin. Lev. 18 is not talking about temple prostitution. It is not talking about promiscuity. It details very specific acts of sexual sin. Among those listed, are homosexual acts. I urge you my friend to submit to the Lordship of Christ in this matter. You need to serve the God that really is, not the God you want Him to be. What you are doing is no different than what countless others have done down through time. You have a 'sin' which you are not willing to stop, so you find ways to justify it. You find ways to explain away what Scripture actually says and make it mean what you want. The problem is that Christ calls us to no longer yield our bodies to sin (Rom. 6). The last quote from Mt. 5:10-12 was a horrible misapplication. First of all, you are not being persecuted at all on this forum. Secondly, homosexuality is called an abomination in Scripture not a 'righteous' act. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
