Bible Question: Is there any other place in the Word besides Exodus exsplaining to us not to say the Lords name in vain? I have a friend who does it alot and I like to help other by using scriputures instead of my own words. Thank |
Bible Answer: Romans 2:12 12 For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law; 1 Pet 3:10 For, "THE ONE WHO DESIRES LIFE, TO LOVE AND SEE GOOD DAYS, MUST KEEP HIS TONGUE FROM EVIL AND HIS LIPS FROM SPEAKING DECEIT. James 2:12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. I work in a manufacturing plant and I hear that phrase a lot but what I have found works pretty good is to state that, "maybe that's your god. The God I worship would never damn anyone." That phrase seems to pretty much cover it. Needless to say they don't take the Lord's Name in vain around me nearly as much they used to and if they do, they usually apologize for saying it. |
