Bible Question:
Where do Wescott and Hort (not sure of spelling of their names) fit in the debate of why New Translations like The NASB, and NIV are bad translations. My knowledge is limited on these men. Thanks for you information. Blessings to all, pray for peace! justme |
Bible Answer: Greetings Justme! The short answer is that Wescott and Hort were two of the first to develop the modern concepts of textual criticism. For instance, they surmaized that a couple of good old manuscripts may carry more weight than a hundred newer, lesser quality manuscripts. Therefore, they tend to get demonized because the majority of the texts used by the TR were of a later date and lesser quality. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
