Bible Question:
I recently started reading Genesis, and there are several things that are really confusing to me. 1. In Genesis 4:13-17 why is Cain afraid for his life? The only people on the earth at that time were Cain, Adam, Eve, and possibly a few younger siblings. Also where did Cain's wife come from? 2. In Genesis 6:1-4 who are the sons of God, the Nephilim (giants in KGV), and the men of renown? I can't make any sense of it! |
Bible Answer: I can share how God has helped me understand this. I'm still a fairly new studier of the Bible. I think that Adam and Eve lived hundreds of years. It doesn't say that Cain and Abel were in their 20's to 40's where I think I am tempted to place them. Their younger siblings could have been over 100 at the time this occured. It just said "in the course of time". So their siblings could have easily populated the area around them and I'm satisfied that that is where his wife came from. During my question about the Nephilim I read somewhere that they were "fallen angels or beings" which may have been one of the reasons that God decided to destroy the world in the flood. I hope this might be of some help too. It's great you have these questions. I think God is really pleased when we dig deeper and think about what we read. I use commentaries when I have a verse that I question too. |
