Bible Question: What is the context of Matthew 15:13? Is He talking about the Pharisees? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Searcher - this verse is posted right at my terminal. It is a constant reminder to me that in all that I do, I must seek the will of God first. I believe that in this verse Jesus was using the Pharisees as illustration of those who placed themselves in a postion of authority when in fact they had none (see also Mt 23:2). Jesus accuses them of disobedience because they have allowed "tradition" or the understanding of man to usurp the authority of God (Mt 15:3). Might we be guilty of the same at times? When we sow our PLANS(plants) into the garden of life that we have been given, what will we reap if they are not from God? Just some thoughts. . . I hope this verse will be significant for you too!
