Bible Question: My wife claims that the bible does not command the wife to love her husband, only vise versa? She also feels biblicily justified that she is seperate from me. I have taken a job in Wisconsin, she is still living in Oklahoma after seven months. What does the bible say about this? |
Bible Answer: Dear short, The Bible does not tell the wives to love the husbands. It tells the husbands to love their wives as he loves himself and to be willing to give his life for her. It does tell the wives to respect their husbands and to submit to them. [Eph. 5: 22-32] The Bible does not give men a license to "lord it over" women. Women are to be equal partners in this life under God. From your question I don't know what the circumstances are in your situation that led to this separation. You should not use God's word to force your will on another human being. There is probably a lot more going on between the lines here and you need to sincerely come before the Lord as to what you should be doing to rectify the situation. I am not placing fault here...what I mean is that the Lord should be the mediator between you two and you both need to be sincere before Him and be willing to modify your behavior according to His will not either of yours.
