Subject: what is spiritual bondage |
Bible Note: Greetings graceful! You wrote, "Many times believers do come into bondage to putting their faith in their works to be the source of righteousness." I have coined the term "sin of obedience" to express this concept. I believe, as humans, we are (for a myraid of reasons) unable to completely grasp the message of GRACE - our prideful sin nature continually prompts us into wanting to "measure up" or to be validated. Unless we see our validation and worth in the finished work of Chrsit alone, and truly desire to rest only in God's Grace, I believe that we become susceptible to the schemes of the devil that rob us of the abundant life and inherent joy that comes by faith alone. (I think we could go on and on here!) Even in our churches, the message is focused on "doing" rather than letting Christ BE at work in us.( Hence we become addicted to legalism, perfomance Christianity, looking for the blessings rather than the Blessor, ie: if I do this, God will do that.) This, to me, undermines the power of the cross in the life of the believer. These are just some thoughts, but basically, I believe that this is the root of "spiritual" bondage - for it is not Christ who reigns, but the flesh. The Spirit is indeed "in bondage", unable to produce the fruit of Its presence. God is SO patient with us, and OH how He loves you and me! Blessings, mommapbs |
