Bible Question: I'm a beginner who has just asked christ to move into my heart and a new user of this forum. Is this like a chat room? |
Bible Answer: Kaydulce... You've been given some solid advice by both Emmaus and Angel Messenger: Get thee to a church! A church that exalts Christ and preaches the word of God. As a tender young plant needs fertile soil in which to establish firm roots to anchor it and nourish it in order for it to grow, so the young Christian vitally needs anchorage in Christ's church, for there he will be fed the word of God and be encouraged and strengthened by the fellowship of the saints. You can't possibly avail yourself of this kind of experience by surfing the internet, no matter how good the web site may be. Cyberspace cannot replace the space of a church pew! You are a new believer. I would not recommend this forum to you. In it you will find far too much disagreement and divisiveness on theological, doctrinal, denominational and other issues that are more likely to confuse you than instruct and edify you. Read your Bible in a translation that is clearest to you. (Suggested picks: New International Version, New Living Translation, English Standard Version, New King James Version, New American Standard Bible). Many new Christians have found the gospel of John to be a good place to begin one's Bible reading . Read a Psalm or two every day. It's been called "God's Songbook" and always lifts the spirit and brings strength and encouragement as you read and meditate on the eternal words of praise to our loving God. Pray, always pray. And, again, dear young Christian, please seek and ask God to help you find a church home. My prayer for you is that you will grow and flourish in your faith, and that you may become a beacon to others, that they too may be led from darkness to the true Light as you have been. --Hank |
