Bible Question: Well if Jesus fufilled the Sabbath law and its in the ten commandments, then i guess we won't be sinning either if we break other laws in the ten commandments? We could steal, murder, covet, have adultery, this dosen't make sense where do you draw the line are we just trying to take the law of the sabbath out? I got to ask you where the sabbath was changed in the bible, because i haven't found it? |
Bible Answer: Rachy Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. Mark 2:24-28 The Pharisees were saying to Him, "Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?" [25] And He said to them, "Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions became hungry; [26] how he entered the house of God in the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the consecrated bread, which is not lawful for anyone to eat except the priests, and he also gave it to those who were with him?" [27] Jesus said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. [28] "So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath." Jesus fulfilled the Sabbath by giving rest to man. You see one day (Sabbath) was a day of rest the other is a day of worship (Sunday). Don’t confuse the two they are two different days set aside for two different purposes. If you want to keep the Sabbath rest then fine keep it. Don’t do a thing on the Sabbath Then on Sunday worship and celebrate. What better day to celebrate and worship our Lord than on the day of the week on which he arose? Many Messianic Christians did this in the first century, however the Gentile Christians who were never under the Law never did. Later as the Jewish Christian’s saw the Jesus was a fulfillment of the law they began to stop observing the Sabbath rest. By the end of the first century most Christian churches stopped observing the Sabbath entirely. Do not confuse going to church on Saturday as keeping the Sabbath. The Sabbath was a day set to do nothing but rest, Jews later corrupted this by going to synagogue on this day. The original intent you seem interested in keeping required that man nor woman do no work that day. That would mean no driving, no food preparation, no watching TV, no walking any further than necessary to keep sanitary conditions. EdB |
