Bible Question: what is pantheism? one of my friends let on the today that she was a pantheist, so i came home and searched for it on the internet. they say stuff that goes around in circles a lot about worshiping the cosmos and other crap. can someone explain this to me so i can better understand where to start with her? |
Bible Answer: Pantheism is the belief that God is in everything. In other words, not a personal being, but an all-pervasive force. The pantheist doesn't see a tree created by God. He or she sees the tree as a manifestation of God--therefore the worship of nature and the cosmos. The "circle" is a reference to reincarnation. The belief that people are born and re-born to learn the lessons of life. It also refers to the cosmic cycles of birth, growth and destruction of entire creations. If you look up Hinduism and similar religions, you will find all of these concepts described and explained. |
