Bible Question: what is pantheism? one of my friends let on the today that she was a pantheist, so i came home and searched for it on the internet. they say stuff that goes around in circles a lot about worshiping the cosmos and other crap. can someone explain this to me so i can better understand where to start with her? |
Bible Answer: Greetings! 'Pantheism' is based upon two Greek words - (pan or all) and (theos or God). Thus, the basic meaning of the term is that everything is God. In simplest possible terms, Pantheism denies the existence of a transcendent God who created all things. They argue that God IS all things. We are God. A tree is God. All matter in the universe is God. Thus, the best way to deal with someone who belives this is to show them in Scripture that there indeed is a transcedent, personal God who created all things and existed before all things. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
