Subject: complete return to biblical Christianity |
Bible Note: Emmaus You bring some very interesting things to light. The Protestant Reformation was born to some degree in the rejection of authority. One of the products of the Reformation was and continues to be the rejection of authority. Man established himself the decider and authority rather than the church. Man claims to submit to the Bible, but in fact he submits to his interpretation of the Bible, hence the many denominations all claiming to be right. If we believe Romans 13:1-3 to be true, "Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. [2] Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. [3] For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same;" How then can we justify the Reformation? This should bring the house down! :-) EdB |
