Bible Question:
Hello, We've been putting a site together found here http://www.thegiftsoftheholyspirit.org/countdown.htm and would like to here what you have to say about "If you go to hell, you can still be saved!" Also, if you find anything else on that page above, that you feel is in error, please let us know. Thanks, Prince |
Bible Answer: Prince Charming Interesting how God works I got prodded by the Holy Spirit to add my two cents to another question and the answer I gave answers this one. The person that created the website does not understand the Parable of Luke 16 nor do they understand the Jewish word Sheol or the Greek word Hades which are translated Hell in KJV. Sheol or Hades (hell) is a holding place for the dead. Before Christ’s death both the righteous and unrighteous went there. However Hades was divided into two section one call Paradise or Abraham’s bosom and the other a hot dry place. In the story of the Lazarus and rich man notice the rich man is in the hot dry place and concerned that his brothers might join him. However Lazarus was enjoying the comfort of Abraham’s bosom. Upon the death of Jesus we went to Abraham’s bosum and preached the “Good New” and lead captive captivity to heaven. Paul tells us if we now die we go directly into the presence of the Lord. As far as someone being saved after death there is nothing in the Bible to indicate this is possible. In fact if we go back to the parable in Luke 16 the rich man is told there is a chasm that no man can cross. I explained this with bible verses in forum ID#53123 Website you referenced is based on an incorrect understanding of the words translated hell (sheol and Hades) and is therefore wrong. EdB |
