Subject: Where do angels sing in the Bible? |
Bible Note: Greetings Ray! In the Greek, there are 12 verses which mention "singing" 14 times. They are: Mt. 26:30 - "When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives." Mk. 14:26 - "When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives." Acts 16:25 - "About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them." Rom. 15:9 - " so that the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy, as it is written: ‘‘Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing hymns to your name.”" 1 Cor. 14:15 - "So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind." Eph. 5:19 - "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord," Col. 3:16 - " Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God." Heb. 2:12 - "He says, ‘‘I will declare your name to my brothers; in the presence of the congregation I will sing your praises.”" James 5:13 - "Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise." Rev. 5:9 - "And they sang a new song: ‘‘You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation." Rev. 14:3 - "And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth." Rev. 15:3 - "and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb: ‘‘Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages." The Greek words are 'humneo' (5214), 'psallo' (5567), and 'ado' (103). But, these all refer to humans! ;-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
