Subject: Where's the StudyBibleForum? |
Bible Note: There, I suppose it could be argued effectively that everything in heaven and on earth relates to the Bible and to its Author; and, therefore, that no subject is taboo on a Bible forum such as we have here. It rather reminds me of a teacher I once had in a civics class long ago. She held the view that "everything is civics" and backed it up by rambling incessantly about every subject under the sun, from the results of the last election to the gout in her feet...... But I believe the intended purpose of this forum that Lockman founded is to provide, insofar as possible, a responsible and accurate source of exegesis and exposition of the Bible text. Unless I am much mistaken, it was never intended to be a soap box, a debate, or merely a "discussion" of any and every idea and opinion, crackpot or otherwise, that anyone happened to feel in need of unloading on this forum. Consequently, I think it not impossible to filter out in our own minds those subjects that are really not germane to a better understanding of and a deeper appreciation for God's word. For example, my personal opinions about the Pope of Rome or the war in Afghanistan can hardly add either direction or depth to anyone's search for God's revealed truth. --Hank |
