Subject: Should the Bible be taken literally? |
Bible Note: No offence, dear brother Ed, As Hank said your question is really not about literalness, but about interpretation as a whole, about people imposing unbiblical presuppositions on Scripture causing them to reject portions of Scripture as being outdated or only for the time it written. Scripture must be interpreted by Scripture, not by the current "wind of doctrine" of our culture. From the Westminster Confession of Faith: The infallible rule of interpretation of Scripture is the Scripture itself: and therefore, when there is a question about the true and full sense of any Scripture (which is not manifold, but one), it must be searched and known by other places that speak more clearly.
