Bible Note: Thanks Brad, I too apologise for my unclear answer and after much thought fully appreciate your concerns. This is the first time I have ever responded to or been a part of a bible forum. I shall try and explain where I am coming from. I fully agree that the revelation John had was for him, also that it was for the Lord to reveal to us, therefore I believe we can receive revelation from it. The book of revelations needs to be understood by revelation and careful study. I am no way near having a full understanding of it and do not pretend to. I do however believe that the Word of God is so deep that not one person can fully understand it all and that (for example) 1000 people could all get revelation of it and all be completly coorect, yet all disagree with one another, however if all these people were to come together and share and learn from 'their' particular revelation or interpretation, then a greater understanding of the truth would surely follow. I believe this to be true of all scripture however the fundamental docterine of the cross etc does not give room for this nor should it. For me I have, as I have said, do not have the full picture and it was naive of me to blurt out a statement like that as I did as it could be construed as twisting the truth. I tend to get a bit excited about the word and express it different than maybe you would. How I have learnt and grown in the truth has definitely come by application. It gets revealed to me and by His Grace I try and do it, and I have found by this that things then 'happen' It truly is an exciting time we live. With regards to the open door in heaven, I am sorry I did not make much sense, but the Lord has been taeching me about the prophetic. I am unsure of where you stand by this but I believe we can all prophecy to some degree according to our faith. I also believe that because His gifts are given to us then we have a responsibility to be a good steward over them. I belive they can be in operation even when we are in sin or not walking in love, however when this occurrs then the gift is tainted and good will not come of it because we are not responding to the Spirit to lead us into what he wants. At this current time then, of my walk with the Lord, He is leading me into intamcy with Him and I have been had several visionary experiences. Please be clear however that I do not advocate that people should seek visions, rather, that there is a place where we can be still before the Lord and put ourselves into a position for Him to speak to us, and one of the ways he may want to do this is by a vision. I do prefer it when He speaks to me through His Word but He knows how best we can receive the understanding of what He is trying to tell us. I myself have meditated on the visions of John, ezekiel and daniel etc to understand what the Lord is saying, however in doing so I have found that a definite picture of the throne room has developed on the inside of me to such an extent that I have been able to 'see' His Kingdom. They have, by faith, become very real to me. These visons or imagary have not been on the same scale as John but they have led me into a place of quietness and reverence before the Lord and have been a great part in my spiritual growth. This was the reason for my answer. I believe that the Word of God should be read and applied and studied in context. Also that we are not subject to the prophet but are subject to the Word and all prophecy should line up with the Word. We only prophecy in part and as our minds are not fully renewed to His Word then the prophicies, if taken without careful study, can be misleading and even dangerous to some. However if we are grounded in Love and the correct docterine that Jesus died for us and that we have been reconciled to God not by works but only by His blood and that He is now alive and is victorious etc then we would not be blown about by every wind of docterine that comes but would rightly discern the Word of God by His Spirit. The Word of God comes first and all of us needs a revelation of the integrity of His Word as everything is held up by it. I hope I have been a little clearer on what I am trying to convey. I hope also that you will understand the spirit of what I am trying to explain. I am trusting that this will not cause offence to anyone but the truth of what I am saying will be the only thing received. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on what I have to say. I also read your bio. No wonder I got the response I got, you have a great knowledge of the Word and anything that you say in reply I will definitely not dismiss. My wife (although she knows what my motives are) would probably do much the same thing and disect everything that is said. I shall brace myself for some correction or encouragement. I do however look forward to hearing what you have to say. Have a blessed day Brad. May you and all your family be empowered to prosper in all you do. Gary |
