Bible Question: In Revelation, Jesus states that if your luke wamr He would spew you out of His mouth..help |
Bible Answer: Hi 561joshua01 Just an addition to bbskypilot, since he posted his while I was writing mine, (thanks, bb) I come up with the following: To start in context of Scripture, I will quote chapter and verse, Beginning in Rev 3:14, "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this: (15)'I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. (16)'So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. (17) 'Because you say, "I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing," and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, (18) I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. (19) 'Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. I read this as Jesus, seeing that although we think we are "all that and a bag of chips", He is trying to help us to see that we are faulty in our vision, because we do not know that by the standards of God's Kingdom, we truly are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. (speaking in spiritual terms). Yet he loves us and wants to give us an exit from our sin. Therefore we are to come to our senses and quit trying to be "fence sitters" who are neither willing to get on one side or the other. Joyful Blessings, John |
