AMPLIFIED 2015 | Revelation 2:23 'And I will kill her children (followers) with pestilence [thoroughly annihilating them], and all the churches will know [without any doubt] that I am He who searches the minds and hearts [the innermost thoughts, purposes]; and I will give to each one of you [a reward or punishment] according to your deeds. Bible Question:
Does Satan know Your Thoughts? The bible tells us that God knows are thoughts before we do, but does Satan know what we're thinking? I know he can place thoughts in our minds but can he read our minds and know what we are thinking? I have been trying to find something scriptual but cannot find anything in the bible relating to this. Can anyone solve my dilemma? |
Bible Answer: Dear Gaggyball, Welcome to the Forum! Our Brother Mark makes a good point. There is no Scripture that states that Satan can read the mind of man. That said, however, one must remember that Satan is very old. He is also very intelligent. He has had a long time to study human nature. Just as we can "read the mind" of a little child, I am sure that we are frequently equally transparent to Satan. Of course, I am using the word "Satan" in the broadest sense of the word. He is not omnipresent. Probably very few of us have actually been in his presence. He has an army of minions, though, who are probably often present. But Satan is called the "Lord of the flies." They are but nuisances without any power that is not granted by God, and are used fully to His own eternal purpose. When I posted this to a similar question in the past, Tleigh2703 wrote the following, the gist to which I agree: "Satan is very old. Satan cannot examine our thought pattern, but he does know our family history all 6,000 years of it. He knows it well enough to tempt each generation with the weaknesses(sins)of their forefather. The result is another 4 year curse upon the family (Duet. 5:9). Since our very nature is to sin (because of the first Adam's fall)it is easier to leave a 4 year curse vs a thousand year blessing (Deut 7:9). In a lot of ways Satan is just like man. He sits and watches our behavior and then he uses it against us. This is the reason it is so important that we ask God for his forgiveness and repent quickly. The awesome part of this is 4,000 years into our history Christ died for us and gave us the power to become like him. Sin Free!" In Him, Doc |
