AMPLIFIED 2015 | Revelation 2:20 'But I have this [charge] against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess [claiming to be inspired], and she teaches and misleads My bond-servants so that they commit [acts of sexual] immorality and eat food sacrificed to idols. [1 Kin 16:31; 2 Kin 9:22, 30] |
Bible Question:
Has anyone studied this ref to Jezebel, I would be interested to know what others make of it Dee |
Bible Answer: Hi, Dee... I wouldn't call this a "type" necessarily. The woman mentioned was probably not actually named Jezebel. In that case then the reference would have been to Ahab's wife (1 Kings 16:31ff). In all likelihood, the reference harkens back to Queen Jezebal's character and the nature of her sin. The passage makes no mention of evil spirits. Saying anything beyond that would be speculative at best. In Him, Doc |
