Bible Question:
Jesus cast out demons in his lifetime. I believe we all would agree that the New testament has ample evidence that demons exist, and were actively involved with hindering Christ and his choosen few, and believers. If Jesus cast out demons, and even allowed them to enter a herd of pigs, which was deviled ham by the way, and they ran off a cliff into the sea. Please tell me where are demons today? Also why is not the casting out of demons today a part of the church? Are not demons just as active today as in Jesus life time? What should we as Christians do today to recognize when we come across a demon? How are we to cast out a demon? Are we to cast out a demon. This all sounds like some pretty rough dealings I am not sure how to deal with. agape, justme |
Bible Answer: Greetings justme, I will do my best to answer some of your questions. The ones I don't maybe someone else can. Demons today are everywhere and very active still in hindering the message and salvation of Christ. When Christ cast the demons into the pigs in Matt 8:28 He only cast them out of two men. He did not cast out the demons of everyone. There were still many active demons in Jesus time as there is today. Many churches today do cast out demons, however some churches today do not even believe that hell is real. Why cast out what is not there. As in many other issues churches today deal with only topics that are agreeable to everyone. Many pastors do not want to step on anyone's toes, possibly because they are more interested in the money that person would donate rather than their eternal salvation or possibly because they do not want to offend anyone. If these pastors preached on demons they would have to identify them and step on peoples toes. Some churches only want to talk about the love of Christ and how wonderful He is - all the good things but none of the bad. There are many different reasons. As Christians today we need to realize that demons are more active now than ever before because they know that their time is growing short. When we meet a demon we need to pray and cast it out of where ever it is. We do this by the power that Christ gave us, (see Matt 9:8; Acts 1:8; 2Tim 1:7; Mark 16:17). To cast out a demon you simply command the demon in the name of Jesus Christ to leave where he is. He must leave at the name of Jesus Christ. I would like to caution you that if there are others present they need to pray also, and if there are children present they must be covered with prayer because when the demon comes out of the one you command him to leave he will be looking for a new home. Christ has given us the power to do these things and we are to do them in Jesus name. He has given us the power, (see Eph 6:10-17). Hope this helps - prayon |
