Bible Question: Where does it teach in the Bible that Jesus is Michael the archangel? Why isn't Jesus called Michael right now since he is in heaven? |
Bible Answer: i dont think it explicitly says it anywhere but the implication is there, i think that Michael is preincarnate(before he assumed a human body) Jesus. 1. the name Michael means 'who is like God?' 2. he and his angels fight the dragon and chuck him out of heaven (Rev 12:7) 3. Contention with the devil (Jud 1:9) 4. 'Prince' of Israel (Dan 10:21) The earlier Protestant scholars usually identified Michael with the preincarnate Christ, finding support for their view, not only in the juxtaposition of the "child" and the archangel in Rev. 12, but also in the attributes ascribed to him in Daniel i guess the reason he is not called Michael now is because he still has his glorified ressurection body. dan |
